Finders and Youngberg are indeed a bluegrass band, but they've added a few elements to their sound and show that make it seem like this is a band to watch for the new era of Americana Music. Retooled in 2010, the band features the fiddling of Ryan Drickey, Rich Zimmerman on mandolin, Mike Finders on guitar and harmonica, Erin Youngberg on bass, and Aaron Youngberg on banjo and pedal steel. Together they sure do play bluegrass, having all served time on the circuit with various other bands and projects, but together in this band the quintet stretches the genre to include honky-tonk, old-time, blues and folk sounds. Their thoughtful arrangements and instrumental prowess weave into Mike's award-winning original songs, and although Erin and Mike share most of the lead vocals, all five members contribute to the singing in some manner. Best of friends as well as bandmates, the five emit a spontaneous and contagious joy when they play, gathered around one microphone, and crackin' wise between the songs. The band has a rapidly filling calendar of performances across the western states, as well as a new recording project underway. Don't miss an opportunity to catch this band as they land in your neighborhood. |
"... It is somewhat rare for a group who hasn't been performing together that long to be able to sound like they read each other's musical minds. Their wonderful blending of influences is a testament to the strong bonds music can forge." - Andrea Bradstreet, Rocky Mountain Breakdown, KRFC, Fort Collins, CO |
"Excellent songwriting melds with the superb musical sensibilities of the four musicians in this group to create these truly remarkable songs. This album has some bluegrass on it, but it's more eclectic than that--drawing upon folk, blues and country. I want to make it crystal clear: this pair of couples is phenomenal together!" - Jan Peterson, Pow'r Pickin', Colorado Bluegrass Music Society |
